How it works

The role of MotoRides Australia

MotoRides Australia is a booking platform that helps you showcase and sell your adventure riding tours. We operate on a commission-based business model, which means you'll pay us a set percentage for each reservation made through our platform.

We handle the marketing of the platform, along with bookings and payment processing. You have the ability to update your tours whenever you like, including adjusting prices and offering discounts, such as early bird specials.

Commission & Fees

We retain a percentage of the ticket sales based on the value set by the Operator, as a tiered commission.

  • <$750: 10%

  • $751 to $7,500: 4%

  • >$7,500: 2%

In some cases, a different commission rate may be negotiated for alternative marketing or promotional efforts.

This commission covers:

  • Marketing and promotion of the platform and tours.

  • Credit card processing fees.

  • Administrative expenses related to the booking.

Payments & Fund Transfers

We have a straightforward transaction process to create transparency and make handling GST easier.

  • Customers may reserve a place on the tour with a 20% deposit.

  • We produce an invoice for the customer on your behalf and then an invoice for your commission.

  • Customers can make instalments via credit card on the website or EFT, and they must pay the full amount at least 14 days before the event.

  • 50% of funds from tour sales will be transferred to the Operator weekly. The remaining 50% is paid when the tour starts.

  • The payments will be made after deducting the agreed commission rate.

Operator Responsibilities

The key thing we need from operators is details about the tour and capacity.

  • The operators must provide accurate tour descriptions, pricing, availability, search criteria options such as accommodation and bike inclusions, experience level, and support level offered on the tour.

  • Operators handle customer inquiries and disputes related to their tours.

  • Operators are responsible for carrying out the necessary public liability and personal injury insurance and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

  • Notify us of cancellations, changes, or booking adjustments as soon as possible.

Booking, Cancellations & Refunds

We aim to provide the customer with a clear and transparent process and have the following policy variables for each operator and tour.

  • Full payment due (Days) - How many days before the event do you need full payment. Customers can book with a deposit before this period. Days to the event less than this number will require full payment to book. E.g. if this is set to 14, a customer booking 1 week out will need to pay in full, deposit will not be an option on booking.

  • 50% Refund days before the event - How many days before an event will you offer a 50%.

  • No Refund days before the event - How many days before an event is there no refund?

The process to cancelling an event depends on whether it has bookings. We understand that many things outside the operators control can change an event, such as weather and access to tracks.

  • If an Operator cancels a tour, MotoRides may offer Customers either a full refund or credit for a future tour.

  • Operators must reimburse MotoRides for refunds issued due to Operator cancellations.

Content & Listing Rights

The tours remain your tours and we just need enough information to be able to present them to the customer in the best way possible. We will also use certain tours to promote the platform which will be based on marketability.

  • Operators retain ownership of their content but grant MotoRides a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use their tour listings, descriptions, and media for marketing purposes.

  • MotoRides reserves the right to modify or remove listings that do not meet platform standards.

Amendments & Termination

As the Operator, you can change the visibility of your tours at any time.

  • You can set the visibility of any tour to the following:

    • Public - appears on the website and is bookable.

    • Unlisted - does not appear on searches, but a private link is bookable.

    • Hold - does not appear in searches and is not bookable.

    • Cancel - does not appear in searches, is not bookable and starts the refund process.

    • Complete - the event end date has passed.

  • If you wish to leave the platform, just let us know, and you can remove your tours.
